Monochrome, is a series that is still evolving. Each image is titled by its order of creation, making that of experimental introspection and a blank slate in which viewers reflexively insert themselves within the scenes.
Each scene is a miniature set up posed within the walls of a dollhouse. The figure is a 5 inch tall grey drawing model and I’ve painted the house, furniture and accessories to match her grey skin tone. She is perfectly at peace within this world as I propose there is a comfort in the routine and a life well lived without a strong sense of adventure. It is okay to be content precisely where you are.
She does not wear clothes, eat physical food, or interact with other humans in these images. There is no in-house lights, and her surroundings are void of color. This all serves as metaphor for the focus of the works being on her (myself, the viewer) in her raw form. Her introspective world is the sole center of this narrative without distraction.
